Doña Olga with Yerba del Oso

Join us for a day with traditional Sonoran herbalist and healer, Doña Olga Ruiz of Imuris, Sonora. This monthly class led by John Slattery is held in Doña Olga’s home in Imuris. We will travel as a caravan from Tucson, AZ to her home where she will instruct us on the various uses of medicinal plants of the Sonoran desert, demonstrate her preparations, and unveil her knowledge of over 60 years of working with herbs. We will cover a variety of health concerns and traditional energetic approaches to healing these conditions. We never know what we will find when we visit Doña Olga. As the seasons change there are always new surprises popping up in her garden or the latest treasures they have brought back from their trips into el monte.

Doña Olga’s wildharvested herbs will be available for sale. All subject matter will be translated into English. The trip includes a delicious home-cooked lunch provided by Doña Olga and her family.

Actual class time is from 10a-3p with lunch included.

Meeting time in Tucson is at 7:30a. We should return to Tucson around 5:30-6p depending on border traffic.
