Ethnobotanical to modern clinical applications and everything in between . . . simple home remedies and how we can possibly integrate these native plants into our home landscape.

Join Sonoran Herbalist John Slattery for an ethnobotanical plant walk through Oracle State Park, in Oracle, AZ. Come see what’s coming up this Spring!

John will be sharing knowledge on how our local plants have been used for food and medicine over millennia. The beautiful chaparral/oak woodland of Oracle State Park is a wonderful place to explore our local flora in the spring time.

 

Class is included in the park entrance fee of $7 per vehicle (limit 4 people per vehicle).

Sunday, February 23, 2014 – Herbalism 101: Harmonizing with Spring

Enhance your adaptability and energize your life! Vitalism is a system of healing that has been practiced for millennia. In this class we will look at how specific changes in our local environment that come with Spring are reflected in our whole beings. Many local plants, which can be cultivated in the garden or found growing in the wild, will be discussed that can help us negotiate these changes. We will learn how to identify these plants and how to prepare herbal teas, tintures, and oxymels from them. Each participant will take home some herbal preparations and the knowledge to prepare them.  All materials and handouts are included in the class fee. Limit 12 people.
